After the heavy rains, our Animal Disaster Team (ADT) stepped in to rescue a disoriented swan found wandering the streets of Waterloo. The bird was safely cared for before being released back into its natural habitat.

A heartfelt thank you to the Waterloo Police Department and the attentive citizens whose vigilance made this rescue possible. Together, we ensured the swan's safe return!

While managing operations related to the floods, our team also stepped in after a Federal Police raid uncovered several exotic animals being kept illegally. Among them were two white-tufted marmosets, a serval, a sugar glider, and three turtles.

Thanks to the skills and expertise of our specialists, the animals were safely rescued and transported to a specialized center in Flanders, where they will receive proper care.

The Animal Disaster Team (ADT) intervened in Couvin after the floods caused by Storm Kirk. The team rescued goats, a billy goat, and two dogs trapped by the rising waters, with the assistance of firefighters and a helicopter evacuation. All the animals were brought to safety.

ADT has signed an agreement with the province of Namur to protect animals in case of emergency. It is the first province to engage in this type of partnership, aimed at improving animal care during disasters such as fires or floods.

Today, our organization celebrates its first anniversary after a year marked by impressive achievements. In one year, we have:

Saved over 1,000 animals in distress
Carried out 150 emergency interventions in the field
Protected more than 50 different species, from dogs to reptiles
Brought together 60 dedicated volunteers

A sow spent seven years confined in a small cage, without any care, which severely impacted her health. Her nails were so long that she struggled to stand, she became overweight and weakened. Since Tuesday, she has been receiving the necessary care to recover in a suitable environment. Although the road to recovery will be long, we remain hopeful.
