A WEEK DEDICATED TO WILDLIFE RELIEF
Last week was marked by a series of emergency interventions by our ADT - Animal Disaster Team.
It all started with a call for help for some baby owls, trapped in the attic of a house under renovation. In a race against the clock, our teams rushed to rescue these adorable little owls.
Then another emergency call led us to Mons, where an owl was in desperate need of assistance. Without wasting a second, our teams mobilized to respond to this distress call.
But we did not stop there. We were alerted to come to the aid of two injured deer and two others trapped in perilous situations.
At the Total Energies site in Feluy, our teams found a severely wounded deer. With a tendon wound and multiple wounds, the situation was critical. We quickly took charge of the animal and carefully transported it to the Perwez CREAVES for intensive care.
Fortunately, thanks to the rapid and efficient intervention of our teams, all the rescued animals were taken in charge and transported to the Perwez CREAVES to receive the appropriate care. As for the other two trapped deer, they were freed and regained their freedom.
These interventions are just a few examples of the extraordinary work carried out by our ADT teams. Their dedication and courage are invaluable, and thanks to them, many animal lives have been saved. We will continue to be there, ready to respond to any emergency call to protect animals.

A GOOSE RESCUED ON THE BANKS OF THE THURE
A rescue mission recently took place on the banks of the Thure River, where an afflicted goose was rescued by the ADT - Animal Disaster Team.
It all started with an emergency call from a local shelter reporting a severely weakened goose, unable to fly, and in critical condition. Located in Erquelinnes, the site presented unique challenges for rescuers, due to difficult access to the river where the animal was.
As soon as they arrived, the ADT team was confronted with the magnitude of the task that awaited them. The goose, frightened by the human presence, rushed into the water, carried away by the current even before an approach from the shore could be attempted. In a race against the clock, our teams quickly carried out a backup plan, coordinating to intercept the animal further down.
Our team managed to reach the goose in distress before it was taken too far by the current. The animal, exhausted and wounded to the wings, was taken care of immediately and transported to a specialized care center to receive the necessary care.

SAVING A WEAKENED HERON
The ADT team received an emergency alert from the Perwez CREAVES for a rescue mission: a heron in great distress had been spotted near Marilles.
Despite the challenges posed by the situation, our team, equipped with specialized equipment, headed to the indicated locations to rescue this volatile in distress.
When we arrived, the task turned out to be more complex than expected: the bird, weakened and hidden, was difficult to spot with the naked eye. It was thanks to our thermal drone that we were able to scan the area to locate the bird hidden in the high grass.
Once detected, the heron, barely able to fly off, was gently taken care of by our team. Our absolute priority was to provide him with the necessary care to enable him to recover and regain his health. Without wasting time, we transported him to CREAVES, where he was taken care of.

ABANDONMENT OF A DOG AND HER 3 PUPPIES ALONG A MAIN ROAD
This 25th April in the morning, the ADT - Animal Disaster Team responded to an urgent call concerning a dog mother and her three babies abandoned in front of a veterinarian, just two meters from a main road.
Our teams quickly mobilized to rescue this poor dog and her puppies. Already disoriented and frightened, the mother and her babies were exposed to the imminent danger of accidents, being so close to the road. Time was running out, every moment counted for their safety.
Fortunately, the little family is fine. The mother, Maya, and her precious puppies were taken care of immediately by a veterinarian. Then they were transferred to a warm shelter where they could recover from this traumatic experience, surrounded by love and care.
Maya, the brave mother, is simply adorable. His story sounds like a cry against inhumanity. For our teams, it is a dismaying reality to have to face so many acts of cruelty to animals. But it is also a call to humanity, compassion, and action.

RESCUE OF A TURTLEDOVE TRAPPED IN A CHURCH IN BELOEIL
In a recent intervention, members of the ADT - Animal Disaster Team responded to the emergency call from a shelter for a turtledove trapped in a critical situation. The bird was trapped between a wire fence and the glass windows of a church in Beloeil, requiring urgent intervention for its survival.
On Tuesday evening, following a call for help, the team hurried to the scene, fully aware of the gravity of the situation. The turtledove, unable to free itself, was in danger of a tragic end if it was not rescued promptly. With caution, the ADT members managed to get the bird out of this delicate trap, thus avoiding the animal's death.
Despite the difficulties encountered, the turtledove was lucky. Although she suffered from a slight leg fracture, her overall condition is stable. To ensure her full recovery, she has been entrusted to the expert care of the Perwez CREAVES, where she will receive the necessary treatments before regaining her freedom in heaven.
The turtledove is now in good hands, with encouraging prospects for its recovery and return to wildlife.

ADT INTERVENES TO TAKE CARE OF AN UNAPPROACHABLE HORSE
When the Animal Welfare Unit called the ADT - Animal Disaster Team, it was to help a difficult horse that avoided human contact. Following the death of his companions, this lonely horse had developed suspicion and aggression towards humans. Despite our efforts, his suspicion persisted, so we called the VUSC (Emergency Veterinarians) to administer a sedative.
Their expertise was invaluable. After two doses, the horse calmed down enough for us to guide him to our vehicle. His 450-kilo weight required a hoist to load him into the truck.
Fortunately, everything ended well. He is now at Help Animals, receiving the necessary care. This intervention showcased collaboration and dedication to animal welfare, resulting in a happy ending for this reluctant horse.
