Urgent Rescue: Jackdaws Trapped in a Chimney

In the evening, our teams were alerted to a critical situation: several jackdaws were trapped in a chimney flue. The nest, weakened and fragile, had collapsed under the weight of the birds. Faced with a dead-end trap, the young birds were in great danger.
Upon arrival, our rescuers acted with professionalism and speed. Two jackdaws were successfully rescued and immediately taken care of. Despite all our efforts and everyone's involvement, one of the birds, which had attempted to free itself on its own, unfortunately did not survive.
The rescued birds were transferred for a thorough medical check-up at Creaves in Perwez. Thanks to the care provided by professionals, they were rehabilitated and released on the same day. This medical follow-up is essential to ensure the safe reintegration of animals into their natural habitat.
A Call for Prevention
This incident is an opportunity to remind everyone of a simple but crucial measure for the protection of birds: securing chimneys. If you own a chimney, consider installing an appropriate protective device, such as a mesh. This easy-to-implement step can prevent many tragedies and help safeguard our feathered friends.
