Farm animal training day for our volunteers
Recently, some of our volunteers had the opportunity to participate in an in-depth training on farm animals, a crucial initiative to enhance our ability to manage emergency situations involving distressed animals. This training aimed to equip our volunteers with the necessary skills to intervene effectively and safely.
At the heart of this training, our volunteers gained essential knowledge on various aspects of farm animals. The anatomy and behavior of different species were covered in depth, providing a solid understanding of each animal's specific needs. This knowledge base is vital for ensuring appropriate and respectful interventions that consider the animals' welfare.
One key focus of the training was learning safe handling techniques. With the safety of volunteers, bystanders, and the animals themselves as a priority, our trainers demonstrated effective methods for confidently managing animals. This included practices to avoid injuries and minimize stress for the animals.
A particularly hands-on aspect of the training was the creation of makeshift halters and harnesses. Using available materials, our volunteers learned to design temporary equipment to secure and transport distressed animals.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to Help Animals for their hospitality and support during this training.

Rescue of a goose with legs stuck in fishing line
Our ADT teams went in Antoing for a rescue mission. We were called to free a goose whose legs were trapped in fishing line.
Upon our arrival at the scene, we quickly realized the urgency of the situation. The poor goose had its legs so tightly ensnared by the line that it had deeply penetrated its flesh, causing significant injuries.
With speed and precision, our teams captured the bird to begin the rescue operation. Each piece of line was meticulously removed, a task that required not only patience but also great delicacy to avoid exacerbating the animal's injuries. After freeing the goose from its painful bindings, we immediately took it to a wildlife rehabilitation center where it could receive the necessary treatment for its wounds.
This rescue highlights once again the dangers that human waste poses to local wildlife. Abandoned fishing lines can cause serious damages to animals, as demonstrated by this unfortunate incident. We urge fishermen and walkers to exercise vigilance and responsibility in properly disposing of their waste.

A COCKER SPANIEL IN DISTRESS GIVES BIRTH IN AN INDUSTRIAL ZONE
In a tragic and touching incident, our ADT – Animal Disaster Team was called in by the Mariemont Police Zone to rescue a cocker spaniel in distress, who had given birth on the floor of an industrial zone in Seneffe.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a heartbreaking scene: a trembling, weakened female dog surrounded by five adorable puppies, only a few hours old. However, with a heavy heart, we discovered that one of the puppies lay lifeless next to its mother.
Without missing a beat, we took charge of the mother and her puppies, warming them up and offering them a safe, suitable haven. The mother’s fragile health led us to have her examined by a vet, before placing her in foster care, where she could rest and care for her precious puppies in the comforting calm of a home.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the person present at the scene, who kindly covered the dog with clothes, offering her a semblance of comfort in her moment of distress, before our arrival.
