Emergency rescue in Lobbes

A barn owl in distress was rescued in Lobbes thanks to a quick alert from attentive passers-by. The exhausted bird was sitting in the middle of a public road and was no longer able to fly away. As the owl was at serious risk of being hit by a vehicle, the Animal Disaster Team (ADT) was immediately dispatched to the scene.

First aid and transfer to a wildlife rescue centre

The team carefully captured the bird of prey, taking every precaution to minimise its stress. After an initial assessment on site, the barn owl was immediately transferred to the CREAVES in Perwez, where it is currently receiving intensive care and veterinary treatment.

Hoping for a quick return to the wild

The ultimate goal is for the barn owl to make a full recovery and be released back into its natural habitat as soon as possible. We want to emphasise the importance of the quick alert: thanks to the vigilance of local residents, help arrived in time and a potentially fatal accident was prevented.
