URGENT CARE FOR A SOAY SHEEP THAT HAS BEEN WANDERING UNTRACEABLE FOR 2 DAYS ON THE PUBLIC HIGHWAY.
On Sunday evening, an unexpected situation mobilized our ADT – Animal Disaster Team. The Hesbaye Police Zone contacted us to intervene urgently with a stray Soay sheep that had been running loose on the public road for two days. The situation posed a real danger to itself but also to other road users.
Our teams were immediately on hand to capture the animal. However, this proved to be a real challenge, as the sheep was particularly agitated and difficult to approach due to its environment.
Faced with this delicate situation, a cautious and methodical approach was called for. After several minutes of sustained effort, our teams managed to encircle the animal and capture it in complete safety, thus avoiding any risk to itself or people in the vicinity.
Once under control, the sheep was treated with the utmost care. It was then returned safely to its owner, bringing the emergency to a successful conclusion.
We would like to thank the Hesbaye Police Zone for their collaboration.
