UNEXPECTED RESCUE IN UCCLE: AN EMERGENCY… AND AN INCREDIBLE DISCOVERY

An urgent intervention on Chaussée de Waterloo

Early in the evening, ADT was contacted by Marlow Police regarding a rabbit roaming freely on Chaussée de Waterloo in Uccle.

The situation posed an immediate danger. The animal was at risk of being struck by a vehicle at any moment, while also creating a hazard for motorists travelling along this busy road. Given the urgency, an ADT team was immediately dispatched to the scene.

An animal quickly brought to safety

Upon arrival, rescuers found that the rabbit had taken refuge beneath a parked vehicle. After a few minutes of careful work, the animal was safely secured and brought to safety.

The plan was simple: provide protection for the night before transferring the rabbit to a specialised organisation capable of offering the care and support it needed.

An unexpected discovery

Back at the rescue centre, while preparing a comfortable nest for the rabbit before her transfer to Help Animals, the team made a surprising discovery.

The rabbit was not alone. She had just given birth to seven baby rabbits.

Sadly, three of the newborns did not survive. It was a difficult moment for the rescuers, but also a reminder of how fragile young animals can be.

Rapid care for the little family

The following morning, the mother rabbit and her four surviving babies were transferred to Help Animals, whom we warmly thank for their support and care.

They are now receiving all the attention and treatment they need and are doing well.

Teams on duty day and night
