TWO DOGS IN DANGER ON THE MOTORWAY
The Animal Disaster Team (ADT) was called by the motorway police (WPR) after two dogs were spotted running loose on a motorway - an extremely dangerous situation for both the animals and passing motorists.
Emergency call for two stray dogs on the motorway
By the time our team arrived, the situation had already worsened. The older dog had been struck by a vehicle and was suffering from severe injuries. Our rescuers immediately secured the animal and provided emergency assistance.
The younger dog was more fortunate. Although clearly frightened and in shock, she had escaped without physical injuries.
Emergency veterinary care and a heartbreaking outcome
Both dogs were rushed to a veterinary clinic for urgent treatment and examination. Despite the best efforts of the veterinary team, the older dog's injuries proved too severe. Given his advanced age and the extent of his suffering, the difficult decision was made, together with his owners, to humanely euthanise him.
Fortunately, the younger dog made a full recovery after veterinary checks and was safely reunited with her owner - a comforting outcome following such a tragic intervention.
Working together to save lives
Thanks to the alert from the Motorway Police (WPR), the immediate response of our team and the swift, professional care provided by the veterinary staff, we were able to save one dog's life and spare the other from unnecessary suffering.
We would like to sincerely thank all the services involved for their trust, professionalism and excellent collaboration throughout this challenging rescue.
