Three-day rescue mission to save a goat roaming on public roads

At the request of the Green Unit of the La Louvière local police, Animal Disaster Team (ADT) responded to an emergency involving two goats roaming freely on public roads.

The animals had repeatedly come close to causing traffic accidents while crossing roads, putting both their own lives and those of motorists at risk.

• During the initial intervention, police officers were able to secure one of the two goats. 
• The second, more agile and wary, fled the scene and disappeared into a vast cornfield covering several hectares, making any attempt to approach it extremely difficult.

Despite deploying our thermal drone, the first search operation proved unsuccessful. However, our teams remained fully mobilised and determined to bring the animal to safety.

It was only on the third day of the mission, thanks to additional personnel and the invaluable support of the Green Unit and their drone team, that the goat was finally located and safely secured.

Both goats were then taken into care and transferred to the Le Rêve d’Aby sanctuary, where they can now live peacefully and safely, far from the dangers they previously faced.
