ROE DEER FREED FROM FENCE THANKS TO GREAT TEAMWORK

Seriously injured after becoming trapped

In Mater (Oudenaarde, Belgium), a roe deer became entangled in a fence. As it desperately struggled to escape, it suffered severe injuries, including a broken leg and a deep tear to its groin.

Joint rescue effort saves the animal

At the request of the Flemish Ardennes fire brigade, the Animal Disaster Team (ADT) was urgently dispatched to the scene. Working together with the firefighters, the team carefully freed the animal and carried out an initial assessment on site.

Specialised care at the wildlife rescue centre

Following the first examination, the roe deer was transferred to the VOC SOS Wilde Dieren wildlife rescue centre in Geraardsbergen, where it is now receiving specialised veterinary care to aid its recovery.

Thanks to the seamless and professional cooperation between the Flemish Ardennes fire brigade, the team at VOC SOS Wilde Dieren and the Animal Disaster Team, the injured roe deer was able to quickly receive help.
