Recent heavy rains across our region have led to unexpected challenges for local wildlife. One such situation called for the urgent intervention of our Animal Disaster Team (ADT), which was dispatched to rescue a disoriented swan found wandering the streets of Waterloo.

A Swift and Thoughtful Response

This majestic bird, typically at peace in its natural habitat, appeared unsettled and had strayed far from its usual environment—likely due to flooding caused by the severe weather. Concerned residents alerted us to the swan's plight, and our team acted quickly to ensure the animal’s safety.

With care and precision, the swan was gently captured and relocated to a natural area where it could regain its bearings and find peace once more.

A Rescue Made Possible Through Collaboration

We are deeply grateful to the Waterloo Police Department for their invaluable on-site support and to the attentive residents who reported the swan’s presence. This successful rescue highlights what can be achieved when communities come together to protect our wildlife
