RESCUE OF A HEDGEHOG TRAPPED IN A FENCE
LADT teams were called to Mont-sur-Marchienne after a hedgehog became trapped in a fence, more specifically in a wire mesh gate. Upon arrival, the volunteers found the small animal in a very difficult situation, completely immobilised and unable to free itself.
The rescue required patience, precision and great care. When a hedgehog remains trapped for an extended period, there is a significant risk of internal or external injuries, some of which may not be immediately visible and can appear hours or even days after the incident.
Once safely freed, the hedgehog was immediately taken into care and transferred to the CREAVES centre in Perwez. It will remain under observation to ensure that no delayed complications affect its recovery.
If its condition allows and after a full recovery period, the hedgehog will be released back into its natural environment.
