Rescue of distressed chicks in Flémalle: a delicate mission accomplished

Our Animal Disaster Team (ADT) rushed to Flémalle at the request of the local authorities. A worrying situation awaited us: several chicks were trapped under a bridge, right where protective nets were about to be installed — a bad timing that could have been fatal for them.
The priority of our intervention was simple but vital: to prevent these fragile little beings, still unable to fly or feed themselves, from being condemned. Achieving this required close collaboration with the municipality’s technical services.
Thanks to smooth and efficient coordination, our team was able to safely access this difficult-to-reach area. The chicks were carefully extracted one by one, respecting their well-being and following animal handling protocols.
Once secured, the chicks were promptly transferred to CREAVES Andenne, a specialized center for the care of distressed wildlife. There, they will receive the necessary treatment to grow and rehabilitate.
Their future is now in good hands: once they are strong and independent enough, they will be released back into their natural habitat, where they can regain their freedom.
