Rescue of a Buzzard on the Brussels Ring – Grand-Bigard Interchange

Animal Disaster Team (ADT) responded to an emergency call on the Brussels Ring, near the Grand-Bigard interchange, following a request from the police dispatch centre.

Upon arrival, our teams discovered a buzzard in distress, likely struck by a vehicle. Unable to take flight, the bird was stranded in the middle of traffic and exposed to immediate danger.

The animal was first spotted on the roadway by a mounted police patrol. Officers immediately secured the area and protected the bird until our arrival. Shortly afterwards, the Anderlecht highway police joined the operation to reinforce safety measures and ensure the protection of everyone involved in this high-risk road environment.

Thanks to the excellent coordination between the different emergency services, our team was able to safely capture the buzzard quickly and without incident.

The bird was then transferred to the Royal Belgian League for the Protection of Birds (LRBPO), where it is now receiving the specialised care it needs.
