On July 14, the Walloon Region’s Animal Welfare Unit coordinated an emergency intervention in the Vresse-sur-Semois area.

The situation on site was deeply alarming:

  • Male dogs confined in dilapidated kennels
  • Female dogs isolated in a so-called “living area” that no longer resembled a suitable living space
  • Appalling hygiene conditions: floors covered in excrement, filthy walls, piled-up furniture and an overwhelming stench
  • No food bowls, no clean water and a complete disregard for the animals’ welfare

During the operation, the owner of the property was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to drive his vehicle into officers from the Animal Welfare Un

➡️ According to the information available to us, he was brought before a judge later that same evening.
➡️ Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The images from this intervention speak for themselves.

Thanks to the joint efforts of:

  • The Walloon Region’s Animal Welfare Unit
  • Animal Disaster Team (ADT)
  • Sans Collier ASBL
  • SVPA Verviers
  • SPA La Louvière

all 20 dogs are now safe and receiving care in our partner shelters.

⚖️ The dogs have been placed under administrative seizure and are therefore not available for adoption at this time. The minister has 60 days to decide on their future.
