Injured buzzard rescued on the E40 motorway
Our ADT – Animal Disaster Team – was urgently called to intervene on the E40 between Liège and Brussels. A buzzard had been hit by a vehicle and became trapped in the front grille. The driver acted responsibly by stopping immediately at a motorway service area, allowing the bird to receive prompt assistance.
Following an alert from the Highway Police (WPR), our team arrived on site to secure the area and recover the bird. The buzzard was stunned but conscious when rescuers reached it. It was carefully extracted from the vehicle and stabilised.
The bird of prey was then transferred to the CREAVES wildlife rehabilitation centre in Perwez, where it is currently receiving specialised care. Initial observations suggest a possible concussion, but the fact that the buzzard remained conscious throughout the intervention is an encouraging sign.
We sincerely hope this magnificent bird makes a full recovery and will soon be able to return to the skies where it belongs.
