Injured Badger Rescued on Rutterweg
While walking along Rutterweg, attentive members of the public spotted a badger in serious distress by the roadside. Their quick and responsible response proved crucial: they immediately contacted a CREAVES wildlife rescue centre, allowing the rescue chain to be activated without delay. The centre subsequently requested the assistance of Animal Disaster Team.
Our volunteers responded immediately and travelled to the scene. The badger was extremely weak and suffering from severe injuries. It was carefully and gently secured before being transported to the CREAVES centre, where it could receive specialised care.
Despite everyone's best efforts, the animal sadly did not survive. It is a difficult outcome, but one that highlights the importance of rapid reporting and the vital role the public can play in giving distressed animals a chance of survival.
