Exceptional Intervention: The Animal Disaster Team Mobilized in the Province of Namur for Exotic Animals

While our teams were already busy providing emergency assistance due to recent floods, an unexpected call required our immediate expertise. During a search operation conducted by the Federal Police in Namur Province, authorities made a shocking discovery: several exotic animals were being kept illegally on the premises.

A High-Risk Intervention

The animals found included two white-tufted marmosets, a serval, a sugar glider, and three turtles. The situation required extreme caution. The police initially called on the fire department, who then requested the assistance of our Animal Disaster Team (ADT) to handle this sensitive case safely.

For nearly two hours, our specialists worked meticulously to capture the animals. Ensuring the safety of both the animals and everyone involved was paramount. Thanks to the expertise and professionalism of our team, the operation was successfully completed without any incidents.

A New Future for the Animals

Once rescued, the exotic animals were transferred to a specialized care facility in Flanders. There, they are now receiving the medical attention and care they need. In this safe and tailored environment, the animals can recover and look forward to a better future—a stark contrast to the inadequate conditions in which they were found.
