Emergency rescue of an injured heron in Roux
The Animal Disaster Team (ADT) was contacted by the CREAVES centre in Ransart following a call from a concerned local resident. An injured and motionless heron had been spotted in a garden in Roux.
Without delay, our teams travelled to the scene to safely capture the bird while taking every precaution not to worsen its injuries. After an initial assessment, the injured wing was carefully stabilised before the heron was transported safely to the CREAVES centre in Perwez.
The diagnosis was serious: a double wing fracture.
Surgery was required to preserve the wing and give the bird the best possible chance of recovery.
💙 We sincerely hope this heron will make a full recovery and one day regain its freedom, returning to its natural environment and taking flight once again.
