Emergency rescue of an injured fox

Recently, our team was alerted by the CREAVES wildlife rescue centre in Andenne about a fox in distress. The animal was visibly very weak and required urgent intervention to stand any chance of survival.

Without wasting a minute, Animal Disaster Team set off with the appropriate equipment to assist the vulnerable animal. Upon arrival, the fox had taken refuge in a horse stable, where it appeared exhausted and extremely fragile.

A visual assessment quickly revealed the severity of its condition:

• an extremely thin body, indicating a prolonged period of malnutrition;
• severe mange that had seriously damaged its skin;
• several open wounds requiring immediate treatment.

Thanks to a calm and methodical approach, our team was able to safely capture the fox without incident, ensuring the safety of both the animal and the rescuers.

Once secured, the fox was transferred to the CREAVES centre in Andenne, where it is now receiving the specialised care it so urgently needed.
