Emergency rescue: a buzzard trapped in barbed wire
This Monday, our Animal Disaster Team was called in by CREAVES Ransart for an intervention as delicate as it was crucial: an injured buzzard, with its wing completely caught in barbed wire, was entirely unable to free itself.
As soon as the call came in, our responders rushed to the scene. The type of injury, the bird’s location, and the risk of further harm required a methodical and careful approach. To avoid additional injury, the barbed wire was cautiously cut, leaving the part wrapped around the wing intact. Gentle restraint was then used to secure the bird for transport.
Once safely transferred to CREAVES Ransart, the buzzard received expert care. The wire was removed with extreme delicacy, with great care for the surrounding tissue, in order to preserve as much skin as possible — an essential condition for proper healing.
The good news: no fractures were detected! 🙏
The bird is now under observation and will receive the necessary care in the coming days. Our greatest hope: that it will soon return to its natural habitat, free and in good health.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to CREAVES Ransart for their professionalism, expertise, and daily commitment to helping wildlife in distress.
