Emergency intervention in Quaregnon: 9 dogs rescued from house fire

On Wednesday morning, June 11, a violent fire broke out in a home in Quaregnon, endangering the lives of several pets. Among them were nine dogs, trapped inside the building at the time of the incident.

Thanks to the swift and well-coordinated intervention of the Hainaut Centre Emergency Zone firefighters, all nine dogs were pulled from the flames in time — sparing most of them from the worst.

The Animal Disaster Team (ADT) was urgently alerted and arrived on site without delay to care for the rescued animals, in coordination with the emergency services present.

🔹 Three dogs in critical condition were immediately transferred to Vetagora Veterinary Clinic in Dour for intensive care.
🔹 Five other, more stable dogs were taken in by the La Louvière animal shelter (SPA) for safe housing and medical assessment.
🔻 Sadly, one of the dogs did not survive its injuries. Our thoughts are with this animal and those who loved it.

This intervention highlights just how crucial every minute is in an emergency, and how vital interdisciplinary collaboration is when it comes to saving animal lives.
