DUCK WITH LARGE NECK TUMOUR RESCUED IN JEMAPPES PARK

A duck with a noticeably large swelling on its neck was recently spotted in Jemappes Park. After several concerned local residents and visitors reported the animal's condition, the City of Mons quickly contacted the rescue team. Rescuers rushed to the scene and found the weakened bird near the edge of the pond. They managed to capture it safely and bring it out of danger.

Following the rescue, the duck was transferred to the specialised Perwez wildlife rescue centre for a thorough medical examination. Initial assessments soon revealed that the swelling was not a simple, harmless abscess, but an unusually large tumour. The veterinary team now faces a challenging task and is preparing to perform surgery to carefully remove the growth.

If the operation and subsequent recovery go well, the ultimate goal is to release the duck back into its natural habitat in full health. The organisations involved are hopeful for a positive outcome and extend their thanks to the City of Mons for its swift response and to the Perwez wildlife rescue centre for its dedicated care.
