An urgent situation for a weakened horse

ADT teams were contacted by the NAGE Fire Department regarding an urgent situation involving Blackie, a 23-year-old horse affected by arthritis.

The animal had fallen in his stall and was completely unable to stand up. Having remained on the ground for an extended period, exhausted and weakened, his condition required a rapid intervention to prevent further deterioration.

A coordinated response on site

Upon arrival, firefighters, the veterinarian and ADT teams combined their expertise to care for the horse.

Before any lifting manoeuvre could begin, the priority was to stabilise the animal and secure the environment, ensuring the safety of both Blackie and the responders. The necessary personnel and specialised equipment were deployed to prepare the operation under the best possible conditions.

A careful and progressive lifting operation

Helping a horse back to its feet, especially when elderly or weakened, is a delicate operation that requires precision, coordination and patience.

Thanks to the teamwork and dedication of everyone involved, Blackie was gradually lifted and safely returned to a standing position while fully respecting his physical condition and limitations.

A rescue made possible through teamwork

This type of intervention highlights the importance of cooperation between emergency services, veterinarians and specialised animal rescue teams.

ADT warmly thanks the firefighters of the NAGE Fire Department for their trust and commitment, as well as the veterinarian on site for her essential expertise throughout the rescue operation.
