DELICATE MARE RESCUE AFTER HEAVY RAINFALL
Called in to assist the fire brigade
On Friday morning, the Animal Disaster Team (ADT) was called by the firefighters of the DINAPHI Emergency Zone to assist in the rescue of Tequila, a mare that had become trapped in a watercourse after heavy rainfall.
A delicate rescue operation
Due to the exceptionally high water level caused by the recent rain, Tequila had likely misjudged the edge of the stream and fallen in. Unable to climb out because of the steep, muddy banks, she was left stranded.
Rescuing such a large animal required specialised equipment, technical expertise and a calm approach to ensure the mare remained as relaxed as possible and avoided further injury during the operation.
Teamwork made the difference
On site, our rescuers worked closely with the local fire brigade and the attending veterinarian to safely free the animal using appropriate rescue techniques.
Thanks to the excellent cooperation between all emergency services involved, Tequila was successfully rescued from the water and brought safely back onto dry land.
👏 A big thank you to the firefighters of the DINAPHI Emergency Zone for their trust and the excellent collaboration throughout this rescue.
