ABANDONED RABBIT WANDERING AT CHARLEROI AIRPORT RESCUED BY ANIMAL DISASTER TEAM

For days, a small domestic rabbit had been roaming the airport parking lot. Most likely abandoned, it was trying to survive in an environment completely unsuited to its needs: constant traffic, intense noise, ongoing stress, and no shelter. Several passers-by attempted to approach the rabbit, but without success, as it was clearly frightened and remained constantly on alert.

As soon as Animal Disaster Team was contacted, a rescue team was dispatched without delay. The circumstances made the operation particularly challenging: numerous hiding places, continuous vehicle traffic, and a highly stressed animal. Every move had to be carefully planned to avoid causing further panic and to ensure the rabbit’s safety.

Thanks to the patience, expertise, and experience of our volunteers, who are specially trained in emergency animal rescues, the rabbit was safely secured. Their calm and respectful approach helped minimise the animal’s stress and ensured it received the best possible care.

After several days of wandering, the good news soon arrived: the rabbit has now found a loving home. It is finally resting in a calm, safe environment that fully meets its needs, far away from the dangers it previously faced.

Every Animal Disaster Team intervention is made possible thanks to public support. Sharing our work, making a donation, or sending a message of encouragement directly helps save animals in distress throughout Belgium. 🐾
