Our team was recently mobilised following an urgent call from the CREAVES centre in Virelles. The situation was critical: a stork had been found in a private garden, visibly weakened and unable to stand on its legs, let alone take flight. Without rapid intervention, its condition could have deteriorated dramatically within a short time.

As soon as the alert was received, the Animal Disaster Team headed straight to the scene. Our top priority was to minimise the animal’s stress and handle it as calmly and safely as possible. Thanks to a gentle and methodical approach, we were able to stabilise the stork and provide initial care on site.

Once stabilised, the stork was transported to the CREAVES centre in Virelles, where it received specialised veterinary treatment. The bird was given hydration, medical examinations and a period of rest, all of which are essential for its recovery.

We remain hopeful that, with proper care and plenty of rest, the stork will soon regain its strength and once again take to the skies.
